A secondary data center was designed and built, and real time synchronization of data was established. An environment was set up that offered no data loss and no downtime in the event of a shutdown of the bank’s primary data center.
An Retail bank with branches throughout Oklahoma and Texas was concerned that a disaster such as a tornado or fire could literally shut down the bank for days or even weeks while working to recover its computer systems. The tape backup system the bank was using satisfied federal banking requirements, but offered little reassurance that the bank could recover from a disaster in a timely manner. The strategic thinking bank leadership determined that they should have a more advanced disaster recovery solution, so they called on Improving to help.
Improving’s technology experts analyzed the environment and offered several alternative solutions, with a cost/benefit breakdown of each. After Improving helped the bank to make an informed decision, Improving experts worked closely with the CIO and his staff to implement the construction of a remote data center with a real time data backup solution. Today, when storm warnings flash across their TV screens, executives of the bank no longer have to worry about how to stay open for business.
